Our 5-day, 4-night program is designed for nature enthusiasts, photographers, students, researchers, and travellers who want to explore Tanzania’s remarkable reptile and amphibian diversity beyond the usual wildlife experience. Led by an experienced mountain and herpetology guide, the program combines carefully planned day walks and night walks, habitat exploration, species observation, photography opportunities, and interpretation of local biodiversity and conservation.
The West Usambara Mountains provide an exceptional starting point, with forests, montane habitats, farms, streams, and different elevations offering opportunities to observe chameleons, snakes, frogs, lizards, and other fascinating species. Sightings depend on weather, habitat, season, and natural activity, making every walk a genuine exploration rather than a guaranteed wildlife encounter.
This 5-day/4-night experience is only the beginning. For guests looking for a deeper herpetology journey, we can extend the program to up to 12 days, connecting the West Usambara Mountains, East Usambara Mountains, and the Uluguru Mountains around Morogoro. Each destination offers different habitats, elevations, landscapes, and biodiversity, creating a broader opportunity to discover Tanzania’s unique herpetofauna.
Our approach is based on responsible wildlife observation and conservation. We do not collect or disturb animals. Instead, we focus on finding, observing, photographing, identifying, and understanding species in their natural habitats while respecting the environment and local communities.

Day1: Lushoto - Magamba
Introduction to the expedition, forest exploration and an evaning night - herping walk .
Day2: Magamba - Mazumbai
Daytime forest exploration followed by an evening search for reptiles and amphibians.
Day3: Mazumbai Forest
Full - day herpetology exploration species identification photography and night herping.
Day4: Mazumbai - Amani
Explore new forest habitats and discover different reptiles, amphibians and Other wildlife.
Day5: Amani Nature Forest
Final exploration in Amani , with a morning or night herping session depending on the guest schedule followed by the end of the expdition.
