Your Safari Itinerary
10:00 AM – Departure from Lushoto
Start your journey from Lushoto in a private vehicle and travel toward Same town. Enjoy the changing landscapes as you descend from the Usambara Mountains and travel through the beautiful countryside.
Approximately 1:00 PM – Breakfast in Same Town
Arrive in Same for breakfast and a short break before continuing to Mkomazi National Park. Enjoy a relaxed meal before beginning your wildlife adventure.
After Breakfast – Enter Mkomazi National Park
Proceed to the park entrance and begin your game drive through Mkomazi's beautiful natural landscapes.
Keep your eyes open for elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and other wildlife. With luck, you may encounter the elusive African wild dog, one of Africa's most endangered carnivores.
You will also learn about Mkomazi's important black rhino conservation programme. A special visit to the rhino sanctuary may be possible with advance arrangements and subject to availability and applicable fees.
Lunch Break – Enjoy Lunch During Your Safari
Take a break at a designated picnic area and enjoy lunch surrounded by the natural atmosphere of the park. Afterwards, prepare for more wildlife exploration.
Afternoon – Continue the Game Drive
Continue exploring Mkomazi in search of wildlife and enjoy more opportunities for photography and learning about the park's animals, habitats, and conservation efforts.
4:00 PM – Leave Mkomazi and Travel Toward Mombo
After your game drive, begin the return journey toward Lushoto, travelling through the surrounding countryside.
Evening Stop in Mombo – Traditional Nyama Choma
Make a special stop in Mombo to enjoy traditional Tanzanian nyama choma, featuring freshly grilled goat meat. This is an opportunity to experience a popular local food tradition and relax after your safari.
After Nyama Choma – Return to Lushoto
Continue the journey uphill toward Lushoto through the Usambara Mountains. Arrive back in Lushoto in the evening, depending on road conditions and the time spent at the restaurant.
